How (not) to Become an Addict

Over the past several years, at the Department for Health Promotion, Regional Public Health Authority in Brno, there has been developed an interactive program for the "…teens" called "How (Not) to Become an Addict". In question is a program of primary prevention of certain kinds of habit-forming behavior with risk of addiction (smoking, alcohol, drugs).
Its method is an entertaining competition game with monothematic bases:
1. Addiction - from experimentation to addiction
2. Smoking
3. Alcohol
4. Drugs
5. Am I such? - test of inclination towards hazardous behavior
6. How to resist - assertiveness, training refusal
7. Decision making
8. Ads - how not to be duped - the mass media devildom
The methodology has been elaborated in modules and facilitates the application of each block in whatever combination, or independently (not within the framework of the complex game).
In the year 2007 the methodology of the game has been made available to workers in the field of health promotion in the Public Health Authorities of the Czech Republic. At a two-day training seminar future instructors were trained so as to be able to work with the program by themselves.
