The National Action Plan of Child Accident Prevention for the Years 2007-2017

The Czech Republic is among the countries with high child mortality due to accidents. Although that mortality has been falling recently, the overall number of accidents has not. Up to now, preventive activities were not being coordinated and systemically resolved. Therefore, at the Ministry of Health there has been established a working group for child accident prevention and developed a National Action plan of Child Accident Prevention for the years 2007-2017. The plan is a decisive step towards a systemic approach to the problem. It has been rated positively by WHO and EU organs. Presently, one of its major tasks is the establishment of a National Register of Child Accidents.
